Air Source Heat Pumps

Air source heat pumps extract heat from the outside air, the heat is then absorbed at a low temperature into a fluid. The fluid is passed through a compressor where the temperature is increased and used to heat your home and water.

The air source heat pump system generally comprises of an outside unit, with the controls and hot water storage cylinder located inside the property. We install wet (air to water) systems which utilises underfloor heating and radiators, rather than air to air systems which distribute the air through your home through fans.

Ground source heat pumps

Ground source heat pumps work by extracting the heat which is stored in the ground to heat your home. This is accessed either with deep boreholes or through a series of trenches. Trenches are more suitable for properties with a larger amount of land and will involve digging up the ground to lay the pipes. A network of loops are then installed to capture the energy.

Heat is absorbed into the fluid within the loops which is then passed through a compressor, raising it to the correct temperature to then heat your home. The ground source heat pump unit is typically housed in a garage or outhouse which is in turn connected to the property’s heating and hot water systems.
